| Abstract/Contents: | Summarizes the results of a two-year field study on the causes of summer turf quality decline in creeping bentgrass. States that "maintaining [a] positive balance of carbohydrate production and consumption and carbohydrate accumulation would help plants to survive hot summers." Suggests that the decline in quality and carbohydrate production is directly related to the mowing height of bentgrass during summer months, because there were reduced leaf areas that would have been otherwise available for photosynthesis. |
