| Abstract/Contents: | Briefly discusses breeding efforts "to increase the winter hardiness and herbicide tolerance of turf-type perennial ryegrass." Reports that, "to date [in June 2003], we have two populations of perennial ryegrass with superior winter hardiness that are currently being released by the University of Minnesota and seed should be commercially available to turf managers in 2004 or 2005." Mentions additional research conducted on herbicide tolerance in perennial ryegrass, evaluations on experimental cultivar P101, and the potential need for improved growth habit, wear tolerance, and gray leaf spot resistance in the species. |
