| Abstract/Contents: | Steps in green construction of grading, laying of gravel and soil mixtures, etc., with focus on soil mixtures are given. Green construction according to USGA specifications is promoted. A study on soil mixtures was performed stressing infiltration rate of the soil after compaction and sprigging with Cynodon 'Tifdwarf.' Infiltration rates regarding inorganic amendments were recoded for stages of: Compactions, after grass establishment, and after establishment and recompaction. Results indicated that ground rubber was inadequate for use, as establishment never became dense and uniform. Mixtures containing 10% of Lake Charles clay were also inadequate due to low infiltration rate. Another study on sand types was done. Results favor brandy sand over brick and concrete sand, as even bulk density was lower, as well as significant capillary porosities and water holding capacity. |
