Abstract/Contents:Discusses pesticide disposal alternatives and storage procedures with regard to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and FIFRA (Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act). States that most effective disposal is incineration, but never open-burn pesticide yourself. Another alternative is to take your excess pesticide to a designated landfill. If there is still a problem, there are three other possibilities: soil injection, chemical degradation, and storage. Storage containers should be used only until a proper method of disposal becomes available. Triple rinse containers can be decontaminated and recycled. Storage depends on: the site for storage, keep way from water, good ventilation, and accessible only by authorized personnel for inspection. Whatever you do, don't dump or store pesticides unsafely; and always follow EPA guidelines. Soul injection and chemical degradation are not discussed in detail.
