Abstract/Contents:Discusses the nuisance anthracnose has become in the Mid-Atlantic region. States that "once anthracnose is observed, aggressive control measures should begin immediately." Discusses using cultural practices to combat anthracnose, including verticutting, grooming and light topdressing. Discusses the problem of Hyperodes weevils, or annual bluegrass weevils, explaining that "the biggest problem with Hyperodes is that many superintendents cannot identify these insects or the damage they cause. Hyperodes damage is often attributed to disease, drought stress, or the loss of vigor of Poa annua after seedhead formation." Describes how to identify Hyperodes. Describes the effects that warm temperatures have had on the region, stating that "more consistent warm temperatures have perked up bermudagrass in the southern part of the region to the delight of golfers and superintendents alike. Conversely, in some of the wetter and cooler areas, cool season brown patch has been prolific."
