Abstract/Contents:"Plant-parasitic nematodes are common and destructive pests of both warm and cool-season turfgrasses. Peltamigratus christiei has been associated with warm-season turfgrasses [turfgrasses] in Florida for many years. The authors have recently identified P. christiei associated with bermudagrass in California, Mississippi, and Oklahoma. P. christiei may be confused with common turfgrass parasitic nematodes in the genera Hoplolaimus and Helicotylenchus. Since these nematodes have different damage thresholds on bermudagrass, proper identification is of utmost importance. Body size, death position, tail shape, and presence of epiptygmata are key features that can be used by diagnosticians to distinguish P. christiei from other nematodes commonly associated with warm-season turfgrasses."
