Abstract/Contents:Discusses ways to prevent the outbreak of West Nile virus (WNV) on golf courses. Emphasizes superintendents becoming proactive in minimizing risks rather than reacting to the detrimental consequences. States that "the greatest WNV risk comes during the mosquito season, which arrives as early as mid-April and lasts as late as October." Describes the symptoms of WNV reported by individuals who come in contact with the disease and what golf course superintendents can do to identify early detection. Explains why aerating water fountains are an effective and efficient way to prevent WNV infestation.
