| Abstract/Contents: | Describes optimal seeding times for warm-season grasses and cool-season grasses. Details optimal temperatures and planting windows for bermudagrass and describes results if these guidelines are not followed. Suggests that "the planting window for cool-season grasses is better defined by the temperature of the soil just beneath the surface" and defines the optimum temperature to be between 60 and 80 degrees farenheit. Suggests a seeding range for creeping bentgrass to be between late August and late September. Presents an option of using fabric or plastic covers to extend the planting window of cool-season and describes precautions to take when using this method. Also mentions an alternate method used to extend the planting window by increasing seeding rate and discusses the cons of using this method. Discusses the negative effects of underseeding. Discusses proper sprigging and what would work best. Clarifies the measurement of a bushel. Declares four to six months as a proper grow in period for grasses. |
