Endophytes produce toxins that protect plants, but are not harmful to the plant itself." Explains that "plant breeders enhance turfgrasses with endophytes to reduce maintenance costs, conserve and improve previous soil and water resources, ultimately enhancing the environment." Describes the benefits that have been seen in endophyte-enhanved turfgrasses. Discusses the commercially available endophyte-enhanced turfgrasses.
