| Abstract/Contents: | "The term turf involves different expectations, which means that diseases and pests in lawns have to be rated differently. On areas with wear and tear, characterized by high functional expectations, the disregard of the influence of fungi and pests may cause total losses. Those responsible must therefore ask themselves when they think that actual damage is done, bearing in mind the cost/return relationship when better care and direct control measures are taken. Direct control measures to combat pests must be discussed separately with the Plant Protection Service, since admitted indications are only available to a limited extent." A detailed table lists turf sicknesses, classifies them according to their frequency of occurrence and the grasses they are most prone to effect, as well as when they are most active. Pictures of the various diseases accompany this table. A second table classifies pests in a similar manner to the diseases. |
