| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the impact of potassium on turfgrass. States that "potassium is known to influence heat, drought, and cold tolerance; also, the element can function to influence disease and wear tolerance." Presents an experiment that "deals with the effects potassium might have upon the rigidity of bentgrass." Results include that "there is a definite correlation between leaf resistance to ball roll and the amount of potassium used; the higher the concentration of potassium the less the distances the ball travelled [traveled]." Concludes that "potassium ion increases the pressure in the quard cells which causes the stomates to open." |
