Abstract/Contents:Since the intensive maintenance that is performed on turfgrasses promotes only a highly selective vegetation, it is recommended that the maintenance of less intensively used turf areas be subjected to a less rigorous maintenance regime, in order to promote a more diverse species composition within the given area. A minimal program is given as an example, which includes such measures as infrequent mowing, the seeding of natural vegetation, reduced amounts of fertilizers and a careful observation of the stand.
