Abstract/Contents: | SUMMARY: "Two topdressing media, sand and soil at 4 frequencies (yearly, six-monthly, monthly and two-weekly) were applied to a creeping bentgrass (Penncross) turf over a period of two years. Weight, depth and density of thatch along with soil firmness and tiller density were measured while weeds and moss ingress and general appearance were recorded. More thatch was produced with the monthly and two-monthly topdressing frequencies, but this occurred over a greater depth and therefore at a lower density. Turf topdressed more frequently also had a firmer surface." |
