Abstract/Contents: | Suggests that "elevating the status of the golf course equipment technician is a movement that everyone in the golf industry should support." Explains that "the technician has taken on more responsibilities and management duties. Many equipment technicians also order parts, track inventory, develop and manage a maintenance budget, negotiate equipment purchases, develop systems to track the whereabouts of every tool and piece of equipment at any given time and train the crew how to operate equipment safely." Briefly profiles Stephen Tucker, equipment manager at The Ritz-Carlton Members Golf Club in Sarasota, Florida, stating that "in September [2006], Tucker founded the International Golf Course Equipment Managers Association [IGCEMA], a group he hopes to build into a worldwide organization with the purpose of raising the image of those in his profession." |
