Suggests that "grasses for ground cover...must posses the same survival characteristics as related forage grasses." States that "Mitchell began his career at landgrant institutions in 1971 as research assistant at the University of California Riverside, where he earned BS and MS degrees, and, in 1977, a PhD in soil science with an emphasis in soil fertility." Explains that "because his extensive outreach efforts in the community in southcentral Alaska and his work with the Alaska legislature and [the] congressional delegation, Allen was instrumental for [the University of Alaska Fairbanks] and experiment station during the budget crises of the mid-1990s." |
