Abstract/Contents:Results of 14 different fungicide applications on Kentucky bluegrass to prevent infection by Magnaporthe poae (summer patch) and Leptosphaeria korrae (Necrotic ring spot). These diseases commonly attack highly maintained Kentucky bluegrass turf in mid to late summer when stress conditions occur. Treatments and timing were evaluated on replicated (4 times) and randomized 12x20 foot plots on a golf course fairway at Griffin Gate near Lexington, KY. Plots were mowed at 0.75 inch until August when they were lowered to 0.5 inch. Conventionally maintained fairway plots received 2 lbs. of nitrogen annually and were irrigated as needed. Patch disease infection centers were counted on July 30 and August 31 and percentage of infected turf area was estimated on August 31 as well. Disease symptoms first appeared in July becoming severe by the end of August. No treatment satisfactorily controlled the diseases, however, All Banner, Bayleton, and SN 596 treatments significantly reduced infections when compared to the control plots.
