Abstract/Contents: | "A fertilizer ratio study on velvet bentgrass was started in 1929 and continued until the 1960's. Plots existed that received no phosphorus, no potassium or neither for nearly 40 years and interesting deficiency symptoms developed. Plots of several treatments deteriorated very badly by this time. During the mid 1970's the velvet sad was removed, plots were carefully tilled and the area was seeded to Penncross creeping bentgrass. Fertilizer treatments utilizing more modern products were agian established in 1978. Plots are again maintained without P, K or both. Half of each plot receives sand topdressing every 4 weeks and half receives a dressing meeting USGA standards (85% sand 15% compost soil)." |
