Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the use of Regreen turf paint to potentially minimize turf desiccation and hasten spring green-up on Minnesota golf courses in the winter, suggesting that it "gives added protection and is cost-efficient." Reports findings on a 2005 Iowa State University study on winter survival measures, and states that "turf paints provide better appearance, improve turf color during the winter, and supply a slight advantage in turf color even after the colorant was no longer visible." Mentions an additional study on crown dehydration, and includes the opinions of superintendents Dan Hanson and Fred Taylor. Notes that "'I think the paint helped to warm the canopy faster, so the turf recovered more quickly.'" |
