Abstract/Contents:Presents research conducted at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst "to understand the antioxidant response system and metabolic regulation of cool-season turfgrasses under UV-B [ultraviolet B] radiation." Details the materials and methods used in the study, stating that "all turfgrass plugs were plotted in 4.5 cm [centimeters] pots and grown under 20°C [degrees Celsius] temperature with 10 h [hour] photoperiod." Reports that "among the antioxidant enzymes, guaicol [guaiacol] peroxidase activity significantly increased in UV-B treated turfgrass plants, indicating the stimulation of anabolic pathways during UV-B treatment."
