Abstract/Contents: | Explores the relationship between Augusta National Golf Course mowing their fairways towards the tees to limit roll and make play more difficult, and the consensus for tournament golf to be played with balls that do not fly as far. Presents opinions of players from the 2012 Masters, focused on players displeasure with muddy golf balls. Notes that Augusta switched from the "50-50" cut to a "push" cut sometime within the last 15 years. Addresses some players beliefs that the club should reverse the cut after rain to lessen mud. Reports Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer believe that the "golf ball is a very inexpensive thing to fix" as opposed to fixing all courses to accommodate growing technology and more intense athleticism. |
