Abstract/Contents: | "A laboratory incubation study was conducted to determine the ammonium and nitrate nitrogen production from Milorganite, castor pomace and two formulations of urea formaldehyde in soil adjusted to pH readings of 4.5, 5.5 and 6.4. There was generally an increase in nitrate formation from all materials with a decrease in soil acidity. The release of nitrogen from castor pomace was less affected by soil acidity than from Milorganite. The nitrogen released from urea formaldehyde was only slightly higher even though the amount of nitrogen added was four times greater than that in castor pomace and Milorganite." |
