Abstract/Contents: | In order to maximize the use of the various larger sized organic material that is felled, to employ it as compost and fertilizer, a shredding machine (Zerkleinerungsgerät) is needed. There aree now a host of varying machines available, each possessing specific qualities that make careful selection of the machine to be used of the utmost importance. Distinctions are made between machines that truely shred or chop, those that beat and those that rip. The shredding/chopping machines although capable of producing a finer textured end mulch than ripping and beating machines, are more fragile and apt to be damaged by foreign substances such as rocks. The ripping and beating machines can sustain the occasional foreign object better, and as they use no sharp edges, they do not require frequent resharpening to maintain efficiency. |
