Abstract/Contents: | This previous winter was especially tough on Bermudagrass. Major factors which contributed to winter injury are shade, low height of cut, traffic, juvenility and cultivar susceptibilty, thatch, and improper moisture levels. There are a number of preventative methods which can be employed to minimize injury such as raising the mowing height, maintaining proper moisture levels, proper fertilization practices, reduced compaction, shade and thatch control, use of covers, and overseeding. Each of these points are discussed in detail. |
