Abstract/Contents: | Describes the severe drought of 1999 occurring throughout the eastern U.S. and its effects on white grub populations and turf. Effects highlighted include: grub eggs will die if soil moisture drops below 10%; delayed mating activity; egg-bearing females will migrate to irrigated turf; drought-stressed turf will be more susceptible to grub damage; and overall grub populations may be lower next year. |
