Abstract/Contents:"Information is provided on investigations of the carrying layer and the building ground of turf sports grounds established in a manner "close to the soil" and with a view to their soil physical, chemical and vegetational qualities. The sites are grouped as to their soil composition in Intergreen A, Intergreen B and SRS-sites. Timely changes (dynamics) of the investigated parameters are valued by the investigations carried out in the spring and autumn of 1986 and the spring of 1987." In total, 10 sites were tested. "The influence of the intensity of possible damage is taken into consideration by dividing the grounds into highly used areas (restricted areas) and lesser frequented areas (central court). All the sites investigated, generally meet the requirements as to soil physical qualities required of turfs for greater wear and tear. However, some functional differentiations, between the various constructions are obvious." Concentrating on the soil's physical properties, the pore size and pore distribution is tested under the two differing intensities of use. The interaction between place and testing period showed that each test site had its own rate of wear, manifesting itself in its pore size. The resulting influence that this has on the overall water permeability is elucidated in writing and in an accompanying table.
