Abstract/Contents:Describes the damage caused by composts on two eastern Washington sites from herbicide residues of clopyralid. Discusses the reasons why the herbicides did not decompose and stresses the need for compost operators to "be aware of this occurrence and take steps to survey local landscapers who bring grass clippings to their sites about what lawn chemicals are utilized." Also "suggests that problems from herbicide residues are rare...[but] should serve as a wake-up call."
