Abstract/Contents: | Suggests that the turfgrass "industry needs a centralized research effort that can help projects through to completion so that the needs of the superintendent and the research community are met." Suggests that groups such as the United States Golf Association (USGA), the United Stated Department of Agriculture (USDA), or the National Turfgrass Foundation (NTF) become involved. Discusses a greensmower research project, explaining that some results had to be released for funding. States that "the ideal situation would be to wait until such studies are completed before researchers discuss results and superintendents and manufacturers act upon them." Concludes that "with so much at stake in the care of golf courses, superintendents need impartial research to help guide them in their turf management decisions." |
